Glossary of the Flame

A guide to the language of Solara Uniqua, for newcomers and Guardians alike.

The unknowable cosmic force credited with kindling the Spark of Life on Earth. See The Architect for a full theological treatment.

The singular, originating event of life on Earth — the moment inert matter became living, conscious, evolving matter. Considered the central miracle of our faith.

The formal name of the faith itself, meaning roughly "the singular sun" or "the one lit world" — a reminder that Earth is understood as the sole cradle of life under any star.

A general term for any committed member of the Church who actively practices stewardship of Earth and its life. Also the name of a specific Order — see Community.

A Guardian who has taken on a formal leadership or teaching role within a Circle — organizing rituals, mediating disputes, and guiding newcomers, without claiming authority over belief itself.

A local gathering or congregation of Guardians who meet regularly for ritual, discussion, and communal stewardship projects. Circles are self-organizing and vary in size.

Both the name of the first Book of the Verses and a general term for the founding moment of life on Earth — often used as a verb: "the world was kindled."

The unbroken absence of any confirmed signal, visit, or trace of extraterrestrial life. Regarded within the faith not as an absence of evidence, but as evidence itself.

The practice of directing reverence toward Earth itself — its ecosystems, cycles, and biodiversity — as the primary visible expression of the Architect's one act of creation.

A contemplative practice of sitting beneath open sky to reflect on Earth's solitude with gratitude rather than dread. See Rituals & Observances.

The three broadly held interpretations of the Architect's nature — the Distant, Woven, and Silent Currents — all considered valid within the Church.
